About Alibi.
Alibi is the drum and bass project of Brazilian producer and DJ Fabio H. Jesus, also known as DJ Chap. Originally formed with Level 2, the project now operates as Fabio’s solo outlet. Raised around São Paulo and now based in Vienna, he brings a harder, technical approach to music that keeps funk and groove close to its centre.
V Recordings has been a consistent home, from the project’s early releases through the 2018 album Said & Done. The music has ranged from liquid to darker rolling tracks. On The Hornet EP, the title track also explored half-step rhythms, alongside the deeper Last Call.
His later work includes the Forged EP and Roll Out. In a V Recordings interview, he explained that the former was a response to a difficult political period in Brazil, while the latter moved back towards the release of energy on the dancefloor. His remix of Break’s Headshot was another significant studio project, developed through repeated revisions and feedback from trusted fellow producers.
