Behind the music

About Atlantic Connection.

Atlantic Connection is Nathan Hayes, a producer whose drum and bass beginnings sit inside a much wider musical career. First recording as part of Basic Operations, he went on to develop a solo sound he calls future soul, drawing on R&B, soul, and different forms of bass music.

That range has taken his releases to V Recordings, Liquid V, Soul:r, Dispatch Recordings, and Fokuz Recordings. I Think It’s Love and Fixation give listeners different starting points in the drum and bass catalogue, alongside the album Love Architect and his wider Westbay releases.

The music has never been confined to one production name or tempo. Work as Jamie Prado and PRODBYAC explores other settings for the same interest in melody and atmosphere, while his Atlantic Connection mixes keep soulful drum and bass in the picture. His own Mixcloud series makes that listening connection explicit.

Hayes also works as a composer, producer, and arranger for television and other screen projects. It is another side of the same studio practice, where music has to connect with something beyond itself.
