Behind the music
About DJ Ransome.
DJ Ransome is the solo name of Peterborough producer and DJ Josh Ransome, who later joined his brother James, formerly SynthForce, in SyRan. His earlier work moved from UK hard dance into drum and bass in 2013, with a particular interest in the chilled, rolling end of the music.
His DJ work included In The Mix on DNBRadio. A 2019 guest mix for Keep Da Bass Rollin’ brought that range together, opening with an ambient version of his own Black Velvet before moving through liquid selections and material made with SynthForce.
The brothers’ collaborations included Dark Matter on Soul Deep Recordings and Glacier on Celsius. DJ Ransome also released Arctic Blizzard through Fokuz Recordings, placing his solo catalogue alongside the deeper and more melodic side of drum and bass.
In their 2022 Beatportal interview, the brothers described their development through those individual aliases before working together as SyRan. SyRan brought the two producers together under one name, following years of releases and collaborations under their solo aliases.
