Behind the music
About James Hiraeth.
James Hiraeth is a Welsh drum and bass producer and DJ who started making music at 12. His earliest production interests were in house, before he moved through different styles. His early releases included the Do You Feel It EP on Allstars RAW. A bootleg of Disco Lines later became an official release, Baby Girl (James Hiraeth Remix), through Arista Recordings and Ministry of Sound Recordings.
On Rinse / KOOL’s Stay a Little Longer, his first collaboration with Robbie Jay, he paired the singer’s emotive delivery with bass and detailed percussion. See Me Now, made with Grace Barton, continued that focus on vocal expression, with lyrics about perseverance and self-belief.
The balance between melody and bass runs through his other Kool material. Glitter & Gold combines melodic textures with rolling basslines, while Lights Off reunited him with Nathan Smoker after their earlier track No Warning (feat. Nathan Smoker). Its darker production and Nathan Smoker’s vocal centre on betrayal.
In April 2026, Hiraeth released the ten-track album TENMOREYEARS pt. 1 through R.O.A.M. Its tracklist includes back 2 u, lose control, and the EJ Kitto collaboration addicted.
