Behind the music

About Joe Ford.

Joe Ford is a producer from Harrogate whose electronic music grew from a background in drumming and bands. Rock and instrumental metal helped shape his interest in fast playing and complex arrangements, while his production developed across drum and bass, dubstep, and other forms of bass music.

Early releases appeared on Bad Taste and Med School before a longer relationship with Shogun Audio. Stride, included on Way of the Warrior 2, introduced him to the label’s catalogue. Releases including The Moment with Tasha Baxter and the All of Us EP followed.

In an interview about All Of Us, Ford explained that he deliberately aimed for a set of dancefloor records after hearing how tracks such as Detroit and Pale Blue Dot worked in DJ sets. That practical club focus sat alongside the detailed sound design associated with his productions.

His debut album, Colours in Sound, arrived in 2018. It included Care for Me with Document One and the liquid single Where Is the Sun, showing that his work could move beyond its more forceful material. Further releases have appeared on Vision Recordings, Eatbrain, and Evolution Chamber.
