Behind the music
About L3MMY DUBZ.
L3mmy Dubz came to drum and bass through dubstep, and that earlier interest remains part of his production. His experiments began with loops in Audacity at 11, before moving to FL Studio in his early teens. Riddim was an early focus, and he played his first show in Birmingham at 16.
Friends mixing jump-up and neurofunk encouraged him to explore drum and bass while at college. His first full project in the genre was the Oblivion EP on Gully Beats. Releases with Reload Records followed, including Empire and its track Jupiter, before he began working with Blackley's Cre8DNB imprint. Those moves took his music through several distinct corners of the jump-up circuit.
Kingdom Audio describes his production in terms of jump-up shaped by tearout dubstep and riddim, and lists him among its residents. His more recent catalogue includes Mammoth for Kingdom, Large Scale Agressor for Play Me Records, and Deploying Payload for First Request Records. Alongside those label releases, his own L3mmy Do A Mix series provides a continuing showcase for his productions, with a tenth-volume anniversary edition joining earlier instalments.
