Mackadena

Mackadena is a Rotterdam-based producer, beatmaker, and mixing engineer whose musical background reaches from hip-hop into jungle and drum and bass. He began playing drums as a child and became involved in hip-hop culture in the early 1980s. His move towards breakbeat, jungle, and drum and bass came in the late 1990s and early 2000s, while hip-hop remained at the centre of his production work.

That background also informs his work with other artists. Mackadena describes his speciality as boom-bap production, alongside music and vocal production, mixing, and mastering. His credits include Emery, Dreazz, and Fokuz Recordings, connecting that studio practice with his drum and bass releases.

With Emery, he made Tell Me Goodbye, released through Make Your Era in June 2024. The label presented it as a jungle collaboration between two producers with hip-hop backgrounds. His Bouman Records catalogue includes Kinda Jazzy and Rifraf, as well as collaborative work with Th’Acquisition on Geto Life and So Much Love.
