Behind the music

About Mitekiss.

Mitekiss is the project of producer Jonny, whose music moves between drum and bass and other forms of UK electronic music. Before his Hospital Records releases, he had spent years experimenting with different styles, including an earlier period making electro. Drum and bass remained part of his listening and production alongside that work.

His debut album, Crate Six Seven, arrived on Hospital in November 2018. The label described its range through liquid jazz, soul, and ambient jungle. The record includes vocal collaborations as well as instrumental work, with Mr Porter, Naibu, Emer Dineen, and Emeliene Chouadossi among its contributors.

Mitekiss also founded Goldfat in 2015, initially to release his own records. With Mr Porter, the label developed into a platform for other artists, placing a community of producers and listeners at the centre of its activity. Its renewed run of releases in 2019 began with music by the late Andy Skopes.

By 2025, Mitekiss was describing a broader approach again: his album Incognito included drum and bass alongside garage, hip-hop, and other bass-led music. In interview, he connected that openness with the varied music he had listened to before working within a particular label sound.
