Behind the music
About MSDOS.
mSdoS is Chris Kouzellis, a Greek drum and bass producer and the artist behind Liquid Drops Recordings. His connection to the music stretches back through hardcore and jungle: he began making remixes for his own use in 1995, then concentrated more seriously on original productions from 2009. He developed his production skills through self-directed learning.
Jazz and soul sampling are central to his account of his sound. Kouzellis has described drawing on records from the 1960s and 1970s, film material, and spoken voices, with wind instruments and piano riffs among the elements he particularly enjoys. That musical interest runs through his liquid drum and bass work.
Liquid Drops initially existed as an outlet for his own tracks before expanding to release other artists. His catalogue also moves beyond its softer side. A joint EP with Greekboy for Skeleton Recordings in 2018 presented harder material, following his earlier remix of Steve C and Monita’s The Razors Edge.
His Universe EP for Kos.Mos.Music arrived in June 2023. Across its four tracks, the label identified liquid funk alongside touches of techstep, jazz, and jungle.
