Behind the music

About T-Lex.

T-Lex is a Cornwall-born, Bristol-based drum and bass producer and DJ whose work centres on jump-up. Her interest in producing began partly through listening to Flava D: discovering that the artist behind the records was a woman helped her imagine making music herself. She started DJing in 2017 and later studied Electronic Music Production at dBs Institute.

The name came from a school nickname, but her production identity developed through study and a community of other aspiring artists. Releases followed on labels including Crucast, Invicta Audio, and Exert, alongside collaborations such as Locomotiv with Formula.

For the CruCast release Home Run / The Inspector, she approached the two tracks differently. Home Run began as a new introduction for her DJ sets, while The Inspector was an experiment in a more stripped-back form of jump-up. Both were made after she graduated, marking a period when she felt her production had moved forward.

In 2025, she developed Lex Marks the Spot at Bristol’s Clock Factory with her team, choosing support artists and working with a friend on visuals for the 360-degree room. The event gave her responsibility for the shape of the whole night, extending the creative work beyond her own set.
