About Treex.
Treex moved towards liquid drum and bass after years of playing its darker forms at French raves. The DJ and producer, originally from Paris and later based in Lille, began producing in 2011, choosing a style that let him bring together his interests in American soul, 1970s funk, jazz, and hip hop.
Soul Deep became a regular home for his music from 2013, alongside releases on labels including Offworld and Smooth N Groove. Movin’ to Lille, released by Soul Deep in 2022, made that change of location part of the catalogue, with a four-track release that included Liquid Punk and Dubbing to Lille.
His involvement has also extended to organising parties and recording podcasts. Between 2016 and 2022 he worked on the Liquidz-Spirit events and mix series, while his later activity in Lille includes the Liquid-Room parties.
His 2026 Soul Deep releases continued the production strand: Pareidolia arrived in February, followed by Beam In Your Eyes in August. The label describes the former in terms of jazzy liquid and the latter as soulful, atmospheric drum and bass.
