Behind the music

About Urbandawn.

Urbandawn is Felipe Wrechiski, a producer and audio engineer born and raised in São Paulo. His musical education included classical and Brazilian popular music, alongside guitar, bass, and drums. He also draws on rock, metal, and folk from the Swedish scene of the mid-1990s, a connection that became particularly visible in the title of his debut album.

Released by Hospital Records in 2016, Gothenburg Cluster followed the Neon Nights and Cloudless - EP EPs. Wrechiski has described the album as a deliberate attempt to bring a personal history into a connected set of tracks. He recorded instruments and everyday sounds during its creation, using his experience in engineering as part of the writing process.

The four-track Sleeping Awake - EP EP followed in 2018, extending the musical range of his original catalogue. In 2019, he released Come Together with Tyson Kelly on Hospital Records. The Beatles cover had begun as a bootleg, but clearing the original sample proved difficult. Wrechiski replayed its bass and guitar parts and reprogrammed the drums, while Kelly recorded a new vocal for the official release. The process brought his instrumental background into a record built for the drum and bass dancefloor.
