Behind the music

About Walk:r.

Walk:r is Jack Fuller, a drum and bass producer whose music can move from warm, soulful melodies to something darker and more restrained. Newcastle-born and associated with Bristol’s scene, he draws ideas from jazz, funk, R&B, and hip-hop as well as the records he plays out.

Jubei’s To Have & Have Not was an important inspiration when Fuller began producing. Years later, that connection came full circle with Mirrors / Indigo on Carbon Music in 2022. The pairing gave him space to explore contrasting moods, rather than presenting one fixed version of the Walk:r sound.

His catalogue also includes work for Spearhead Records, Guidance, and Celsius Recordings. The 2017 Funky Lady EP with Charli Brix ranges from darker material to brighter, chopped-up breaks, bringing vocals and rhythm into different balances across the record.

In his Renegade Riddims interview, Fuller named influences as varied as Sade, Tame Impala, Children of Zeus, and Nas. Those references help explain the musical curiosity behind his D&B: a good groove or a useful melody can arrive from somewhere well outside the genre, then find its place within a new track.
