About Wingz.
Wingz is the Vienna producer Markus Kocar, whose drum and bass combines precise sound design with a strong interest in mood and atmosphere. His close relationship with Overview Music has given him space to develop both club records and more reflective music, including the 2024 debut album Ghost.
Its oldest tracks were around two years old when the album was completed. Its 12 tracks include Keep Control with Rider Shafique, Forgive & Forget with Collette Warren, and Guardian Angel with Luke Truth. Wingz wanted the tracks to work together as a complete body of music, rather than simply gathering separate tunes into one release.
Its title came from his experience of being an introvert in busy social settings: physically present, but sometimes feeling unseen. That idea sits alongside the personal importance he places on the album’s liquid tracks, while other recordings follow his interest in club rhythms and rollers.
His studio routine separates making sounds from writing tracks, building a store of drums, basses, and textures so he can move quickly when an idea arrives. For Parting, he reversed and cut up a piano phrase to find its balance of sadness and warmth. His wider releases and remixes include work for Critical, VISION, and Blackout.
