Behind the music
About Zardonic.
Zardonic is the masked project of Venezuelan producer, DJ, and synthesist Federico Ágreda Álvarez. He began using the name in 2004, bringing drum and bass together with metal after earlier experiments across black metal, industrial music, and other electronic styles.
His interest in electronic sound began with keyboards and the range of tones a synthesiser could produce. Progressive rock, jazz, and classical music heard through his father’s collection formed part of that background, alongside the Spanish mákina sound. Drum and bass offered a pace that suited his interest in combining electronic production with metal.
The albums Antihero in 2015 and Become in 2018 preceded Superstars in 2023. That later record brought together collaborators from electronic and heavy music, continuing an approach built around working across those scenes.
His work also extends to game soundtracks, including Superhot: Mind Control Delete and Redout 2. He has described game composition as a chance to work with changing layers and dynamics beyond the structures expected of a DJ track. The mask is part of his stage presentation, while synthesis, remixing, and composition underpin the wider project.

Drumstep
Moderate confidence · Documented drumstep strand within the Zardonic creative project, corroborated on original Real Steel; not the whole metal/DnB catalogue.
