Premium started Exert Records in 2019 after seeing a shortage of opportunities for newer Belgian drum and bass producers. The label was intended to give local artists somewhere to develop their music and release it, putting their work at the centre of the project.
Its support for producers also includes sample packs and synthesiser presets, some made through collaborations. Premium has experimented with limited digital releases, capping the number of downloads rather than using a physical pressing. Those projects sit alongside Exert’s role as a label for emerging artists.
