LSB launched Footnotes in 2018 with the New Day EP, using music he had originally intended for Soul:r. He was clear that it was his own outlet, rather than a replacement for Marcus Intalex’s label. Footnotes gave him control over when and how his recordings were released.
Its musical drum and bass catalogue soon grew beyond its founder. LSB’s The Middle, Tokyo Prose’s Three Colour Portrait, and the various-artists Annotations brought longer projects to the label, with Channell and Alibi also contributing releases.
Space Notes paired returning contributor Anile with Mindstate for the latter’s first appearance on Footnotes. It was released digitally on 1 August 2025. Vocal collaborations involving DRS and Tyler Daley, with Calibre and LSB, add another strand to the catalogue.
