GRAVITAPE interrupts Dirtbox with an unauthorised transmission
GRAVIBOX's unauthorised transmission interrupts Dirtbox Recordings’ social pages this week, with what can only seem to be a total takeover of their social media and DSP accounts to release music of their own.
A series of posts across Dirtbox Recordings’ social-media pages now points to GRAVIBOX. An unknown brand seemingly releasing music with. A new transmission which is scheduled for release on August 19th, following two days of deliberately unsettling visual clues.
At around 8pm UK time on Monday 17 August, Dirtbox’s pages appeared stripped of their usual logos, with label boss Lee UHF presented as unable to regain access. By about 1pm the following day, the campaign showed the page apparently under someone else’s control.
Then came the detail that changed the picture: a staged computer display showing /DIRTBOX/ DELETED..., artists, releases and masters uploading, and a new /GRAVIBOX/ directory. A further post showed GRAVIBOX_001.WAV transferring at 94%.
At 6pm, the campaign moved from the screen to the inbox. A new transmission claimed control of Dirtbox’s accounts, pages, distribution network and promo system before identifying two files placed inside it.
The upload is yet to be determined, but according to the hackers, it's marked for deployment across Beatport, Spotify and other major platforms on 19 August.
The instruction was blunt: download the files, play them, and spread them through clubs, raves, radio stations, and streams. Beneath it, a string of binary carried one final message:
GRAVITAPE IS HERE.
Make of that what you will, but we'll be keeping an eye on the Dirtbox socials:
