Current Value

Current Value is the Berlin producer Tim Eliot, whose music combines tightly controlled sound design with an experimental approach to drum and bass. His early releases on Position Chrome included the 1998 album Frequency Hunt, followed by Seeds of Mutation and In A Far Future.

His later work moved through several forms of hard electronic music. Beyond Digits introduced a wider melodic range, while records on Tech Itch Recordings and Future Sickness developed his heavier material. The neurofunk direction heard on Biocellulose, released by Critical in 2016, brought another change in emphasis without abandoning the detailed, unusual rhythms that run through his music.

Collaboration has also given him room to work outside the solo project. With Dean Rodell, he records as Machine Code; both were also part of Underhill. His wider catalogue includes remixes from Björk’s Biophilia, alongside albums such as Deadly Toys, PUER, and Senex.

In 2023, Beneath the Sonics grew from the name of a community centred on his music. Eliot described it as a platform rather than a conventional label, connecting an album release with the audience already gathering around the project.
