Behind the music
About David Saturn.
David Saturn is a drum & bass producer and DJ from Youngstown, Ohio, whose work also extends to running Approach Records. His background takes in hip-hop as well as drum & bass; by 2024, he had spent more than 25 years DJing and producing. Approach releases music across drum & bass, breaks, dubstep and garage.
His productions have also found homes beyond his own label. He teamed up with X-S on The Beast, released through Conquest Recordings in March 2024. Later that year, Dreams appeared on Dirtbox Recordings’ Vibe City Volume 3. The track began the morning after he dreamt about the beach, an image he described as feeding its tropical, dreamy character.
Alongside those releases, his DJ work has included guest mixes for Graveyard Radio and Drum & Bass Proper. Running Approach also gives him a role in documenting the music around him: in his account of the label’s 2025 activity, he described a renewed emphasis on local talent alongside its work with producers from further afield.
