DJ Ollie Drum and Bass Artist Image

DJ Ollie’s place in drum and bass was built behind the decks, in record shops and on the radio. He bought his first turntables in 1991 after listening to Kiss, Cyndicut and Unity, collecting the hardcore records that would lead him into jungle and D&B as the music changed.

A residency at Pure Science in Maidstone’s Atomics helped establish him beyond local parties. Bookings for One Nation and Movement followed, and Innovation became another longstanding home. His sets have covered upfront drum and bass, old-school material, jungle and liquid, with experience of the crowd as important as any fixed stylistic lane.

In 1997 he became manager of Micky Finn’s Bitin Back Records, spending five years there and also working occasional shifts at Boogie Times in Romford. He launched Direct Recordings in 2001, later releasing his own Time To Get Nasty and music from producers including Voltage and Majistrate.

Broadcasting has run alongside that club and label work, from pirate radio to Ministry of Sound Radio and Pyro Radio. He compiled and mixed the Innovation Drum & Bass Anthems collection, which included his track From The Edge. His connection with LoveThatBass adds publishing and promotion to a career grounded in selecting records and getting them heard.
