Behind the music

About Doc Scott.

Doc Scott is a drum and bass DJ, producer, and the founder of 31 Recordings. Although his career has placed particular emphasis on DJing and selecting music, his recordings are an established part of the genre's history.

That catalogue includes 'Here Come The Drumz' on Reinforced Records and 'VIP Drumz' on Metalheadz, alongside music released under the name Nasty Habits. 'Shadow Boxing' helped establish the identity of his own label.

31 also became an early home for other artists, including Pendulum, whose first release, 'Vault', appeared there in 2003. Scott has described signing new producers as a way of giving their ideas a better chance of being heard, using established releases to bring attention to less familiar names.

The label's Future Beats compilation in 2014 reflected that role as a selector rather than presenting a solo artist album. His approach to DJing and running the imprint comes from the same impulse to share records he believes in.
