Behind the music

About DRS.

DRS is Manchester MC, rapper, and vocalist Delroy Pottinger. His relationship with drum and bass sits within a wider musical life shaped by hip-hop, reggae, soul, and other styles. Asked about that background in 2022, he traced his journey to the birth of hip-hop and described himself as a communicator whose work was not confined to one form of music.

That perspective is reflected in the space he gives to songwriting and collaboration. With LSB, he released The Blue Hour on Footnotes in 2019. The album credits Pottinger and Luke Beavon as its writers and producers, alongside contributions from live instrumentalists. Its 14 tracks put a complete shared project around a partnership that also extends to performance.

DRS's own Space Cadet platform provides another home for his music. The two-part Milestones, Act I & II project with Zar was brought together in 2026, with his written introduction framing the work around persistence through difficult periods. Those album projects give his writing and vocal delivery room to develop across a full sequence of songs. His 2022 headline tour, This Is Just a Letter of Intent, similarly built a live show around his recorded work and the people he makes it with.
