DJ Zinc is London DJ and producer Benjamin Pettit. His catalogue connects jungle and drum and bass with garage, breaks, and house, reflecting a career that has moved across rhythms while retaining an interest in direct club music.
Super Sharp Shooter is a key recording in his jungle catalogue, while 138 Trek demonstrates why not every Zinc release should be filed as drum and bass. His label work includes Bingo Beats and its later development into Bingo Bass, creating outlets alongside his own productions. Those different imprints and tempos belong to the same artist, rather than to a series of unrelated aliases.
In interviews with Red Bull Music Academy and Bitwig, Pettit traced his work through the early rave scene, pirate radio, and the production tools available to him. A later conversation with Kmag explained his move towards house and his use of the term 'crackhouse' to describe that period without being boxed into listeners' expectations of an existing style. His artist-controlled catalogue now presents jungle, drum and bass, garage, breaks, and house together. For a new listener, the changes are part of the story: the classic jungle tracks are an important starting point, while the slower records show how his approach to club production continued to develop.
