Dub Elements

Dub Elements are a Seville duo whose production grew through different forms of bass music before drum and bass became a substantial part of the catalogue. Selu and Toño began working together with electro and dubstep among their interests, rather than arriving with one fixed sound.

Their relationship with Viper Recordings shows how far that range extends. The Mindshaker EP brought neurofunk to the label in 2021, while Rave That Never Ends took a different direction in 2023. Featuring Kit Rice and Fokus, the latter was described by Viper as liquid funk, built around warm vocals and a more melodic feel.

The pair also help bring drum and bass to listeners in Spain through Dub Elements & Friends. By the event’s third anniversary in 2019, it had become a regular part of the Andalusian scene, with Toño discussing its development and his earlier work as a promoter with Wololo Sound.

Those two sides of the duo reinforce each other: they make records while helping create places to hear the music. The catalogue does not need to choose between the heavier Mindshaker material and the vocal collaboration on Rave That Never Ends. Both are original Dub Elements releases, and both belong in the picture.
