Brendan Collins, better known as Futurebound, founded Viper Recordings in 2004. His own music remained part of the catalogue, including the partnership with Matrix that began with Strength 2 Strength in 2005 and continued through Universal Truth and Mystery Machine. Around those releases, Viper built a roster that included ShockOne, Metrik, InsideInfo, and Koven. Camo & Krooked and Fred V & Grafix also released early music through Viper, adding to a catalogue that supported producers before they moved on to other labels.
Compilations became a regular part of the label, from Acts of Mad Men to Summer Slammers and Future Fire. Viper’s remit extends across dancefloor, liquid, jungle, and neurofunk, with those collections bringing several artists and styles together alongside individual singles and larger projects.
For 20 Years of Viper, released on 6 December 2024, the label invited producers to revisit earlier records. Pythius remixed InsideInfo and Miss Trouble’s Metamorphosis, Justin Hawkes reworked Metrik and Reija Lee’s Freefall, and Circadian took on ShockOne’s Polygon. New music from Matrix & Futurebound, Madface, Giganti, and Solomon France appeared alongside the remixes, giving the anniversary collection both new records and fresh versions of music from Viper’s past.
