Behind the music
About Dysfunction.
Dysfunction is a multi-genre DJ and producer originally from the Aberystwyth area of Wales and now based in Oxfordshire. Their musical palette spans drum & bass, neurofunk, crossbreed, hardcore and beyond. Starting out releasing tracks on imprints such as Drum Pusher, No Reality Music and Murky Digital, Dysfunction built a reputation for high-intensity production and fearless sonic exploration.
Work in the studio and on the decks has garnered support from key figures in the scene and featured in mix series like the 1 More Mix run-by 1 More Thing, where the artist’s output was described as taking in “everything … from crossbreed to neuro, hardcore to minimal and many shades and styles in between”.
As a DJ, Dysfunction is known for sets that cross sub-genres without losing coherence; whether programming jump-up, neurofunk or minimal grooves, the performances maintain clarity of identity and technical precision. On the production side, their catalogue demonstrates sound design expertise combined with raw energy.
In an often-specialised world, Dysfunction stands out by embracing variety with purpose. Their evolution from Welsh origins via Oxfordshire roots places them in a unique position in the UK scene. Their continuing studio output and performance schedule make them a talent to watch within Drum & Bass and adjacent bass cultures.
