Edlan

Edlan is an Amsterdam-born drum and bass producer whose music draws on travel, nature, and the small sounds of everyday life. He initially made house before developing his drum and bass work, with Nymfo becoming an important mentor after they met at DJ School. His first Fokuz release and the Liquicity upload of Shadow followed in 2016.

His 2021 debut album, Landmarks, grew from memories of road trips with his parents in Europe and the United States. Rather than building a collection of singles, he wanted music that would work as a complete journey. Its artwork traced a more familiar route: the trip from his home to his studio.

Field recordings helped connect the tracks to those memories. Tantra opens with a distant thunderstorm, while I Found You, made with T:Base and T.R.A.C., draws on city sounds and hip-hop. Edlan has described preferring the clicks and crackles of sampled breaks to an entirely polished production surface.

Liquid is a substantial part of his writing, but the album also made room for darker material and other tempos. Warehouse Tune brought him together with Nymfo for a first collaboration after years of mentorship. Alongside his own releases, Edlan has established the ATNMY label and worked on mentoring other producers.
