Behind the music
About Ewun.
Ewun is the drum and bass alias of Jake Stanczak, the Rochester, New York producer who later became known as Kill The Noise. The name belongs to an earlier part of his career, centred on aggressive drum and bass rather than the broader styles associated with his subsequent project.
His releases connected him with Human Imprint, Evol Intent Recordings, Lifted Music, and Barcode Recordings. Tracks including Reality Check, Phone Tap, and Screw Up were already part of his catalogue when Lifted Music and Anger Management announced his first European tour alongside Evol Intent.
Barcode’s Face Off / Interstellar documents another part of that period. Ewun also mixed the label’s Shades of Black compilation, which placed his own productions alongside music by Spor, Evol Intent, and other producers. The alias remains a way into Stanczak’s drum and bass work, separate from the later Kill The Noise catalogue.
