Fanu is Janne Hatula, a Finnish producer and audio engineer whose music centres on detailed breakbeats. His drum and bass releases have appeared on Subtitles, Offshore, Commercial Suicide, Ninja Tune, and Metalheadz, alongside his own Lightless Recordings imprint.
The Fanu name covers his drum and bass and bass music, while FatGyver is his hip-hop alias. His catalogue includes Ether and Space Donut, followed in April 2026 by the four-track Weight of Water. Hatula describes its range in terms of jazzy drum work, heavier drum and bass breaks, and the downtempo Omnipresent.
Firemind, released in 2022, belongs to his drumfunk and techstep catalogue. Away from releasing records, Hatula teaches music production and works as a mixing and mastering engineer; he became an Ableton Certified Trainer in 2016.
