Behind the music
About Gein.
Gein is a drum and bass project from Milwaukee, now led by producer Adam Darby. Its early releases established a connection with the darker side of the genre, beginning with the Street Sweeper EP on Moving Shadow in 2005. Originally a trio, Gein became Darby’s solo project in 2016, with subsequent releases retaining the emphasis on heavy breaks.
Darby also founded Bad Chemistry Recordings, following work with Habit Recordings. The label’s team includes co-owner Grayfox and producer Noisesmith, connecting Gein’s own output with a wider catalogue of underground drum and bass.
Gein releases on Bad Chemistry include Strange Forces with Fragz and Noisesmith, and Buddha Fist / The Mac with Dropset and Noisesmith. Gein’s God Killer followed on Bad Chemistry in 2026.
