About Genotype.
Genotype is a UK drum and bass producer and DJ whose other aliases include Just Jungle, Mastermind, Craftsman, and G Skool. His work reaches back to the mid-1990s, with releases connected to Trouble On Vinyl, Reinforced Records, and Renegade Hardware.
After a break from releasing, he returned with Ritual Dance on Exit Records in 2010. The album's accompanying material described stripped-back, dub-influenced music around 170 BPM, using organic percussion rather than simply recreating familiar jungle breaks. It marked a distinct chapter within a catalogue that has moved between jungle roots and more spacious drum and bass structures.
Lessons in Depth followed through Samurai Red Seal in 2013. His releases have appeared through G Lab and Deeper Sessions, while Craftsman material also appears on Craft N Dubz. Those identities overlap explicitly on releases such as the Craftsman/Genotype South Central EP.
Deeper Sessions has also housed the Tribal Army series, Studio Kingdom, and Test Of Time, with Tribal Army 4 arriving in 2025.
