Behind the music
About Jinx In Dub.
Jinx In Dub is Joss Jinx, a producer and DJ whose records bring reggae and dub into breakbeats, jungle, and other soundsystem music. His own Butter Pie Dubs imprint gives that range a home, with original collaborations sitting alongside covers, remixes, and party records.
The music has appeared through Jungle Cakes, Sub Slayers, and Against the Grain, while performances connect him with vocalists including Parly B, Gigante, and Dub Dadda of Zion Train. Disco and boogie are part of his musical background too, broadening the influences beyond reggae alone.
Reality, made with Rider Shafique and Gigante, shows how those connections work on record. The 2016 release pairs the original with a jungle edit by FLeCK, a rolling drum and bass version from Selecta J-Man, and a stripped-back soundsystem remix by Red Eye Hi-Fi.
Other starting points include You Got the Dub, Real Headz, and High and Low featuring MC Turner. Butter Pie Dubs takes its name from his northern roots, bringing a bit of local character to a catalogue built through collaborations across the bass scene.
