Behind the music
About j:logic.
Texas producer j:logic makes drum and bass with a clear interest in jazz, funk, and musical samples. His releases for Soul Deep Recordings include Keepin’ It Jazzy, a four-track EP issued in 2014, and Soul Music, which also featured Satl.
Those connections extend into collaborative and remixed work. He worked with Brunno Junglist on Leftover Love, later remixed by Stunna, while his own uploads document further work with Brunno Junglist during the same period.
After a quieter spell, he returned to Soul Deep with Play Some Blues in 2021. The two-track release joined its title piece with Repetition Is Key. The label described the former’s banjo-like sample and the latter’s rolling drums, horn parts, and piano, underlining the jazz and funk ingredients in his production without losing the drum and bass setting.
His earlier catalogue also includes Funky Notes / Scattin’ on Stepping Forward Records.
