Behind the music

About KarmasynK.

KarmasynK is Los Angeles-based producer Ruturaj Wankhede, whose route into drum and bass began with guitars, psytrance, and a move from Pune to California. The name came from that change: for him, making music became a daily practice, with karma referring to the work he put into it.

He moved in 2012 to study at California Institute of the Arts. West Coast bass music, particularly Tipper, gave him a way to connect the psychedelic music he knew with a new interest in bass and sound design. Hearing Mefjus and Emperor together on Critical Music later drew him towards drum and bass.

The transition took patience. He spent several years developing the productions before Optiv responded to a demo and signed music for C4C. In a DNB Universe interview, Wankhede described that encouragement as the point at which doors began to open. Releases through Code Recordings and Delta9 Recordings followed.

You / Electric Blue and the Moondrops release document that work, with the latter including A Moment of Reflection alongside OZOH. Deep drum and bass is part of the catalogue, while his interest in software, synthesis, and Indian classical music gives him plenty to bring into the studio beyond the genre itself.
