Behind the music
About Kawaii.
Kawaii is the drum and bass partnership of Ashleigh and Saul Castagnello, a married couple based in Manhattan, New York. Vocal-led production is central to the project: their debut original, Searching, caught Matrix's attention and was released through his Metro Recordings label in May 2020.
The duo followed it with the independently released Full Speed on 12 February 2021. Timed for Valentine's Day, they described the track as “Love-DNB”, with lyrics built around closeness, heartbreak, and the warmth that remains after a relationship falters.
