About Kid Drama.
Kid Drama is Damon Kirkham, one half of Instra:mental and the producer behind the CNVX label. His work helped shape the Autonomic movement, while his later solo records have also returned to the basslines and break manipulation of late-1990s drum and bass.
For his 2017 debut on Dispatch Blueprints, Impulse 1 and Construct Pattern, Kirkham drew on that period’s hardware-led production. In an interview about the release, he described making his own breaks and processing basslines, alongside studio sessions with Ulterior Motive built around an Emu sampler.
Keys To Kill Time, released on CNVX in July 2024, revisits the Autonomic sound of 2008 to 2010. Its references include 1980s television and video, and 1990s Warp releases. He followed it with Ripcord (Dream Sequence Version) in April 2025, an alternative version of his track.
