Behind the music

About London Elektricity Big Band.

London Elektricity Big Band brought Tony Colman’s drum and bass into a live ensemble built around brass, vocals, and a rhythm section. Its performance at the first Hospitality In The Park in London’s Finsbury Park in 2016 put Colman on bass guitar alongside singers Liane Carroll and Emer, Dynamite MC, and a 12-piece brass band drawn from Riot Jazz.

Hospital Records described the performance as a big brass band treatment of Colman’s jazz-infused drum and bass, with Carroll and Emer sharing vocal duties and Dynamite MC leading the crowd.

The recording became Live In The Park, released by Hospital Records in March 2017. Its 10 tracks included Different Drum, Elektricity Will Keep Me Warm, Song In The Key Of Knife, and Just One Second. A cover of Daft Punk’s One More Time completed a set that combined London Elektricity favourites with material beyond his own catalogue.
