About Magnafide.
Magnafide’s music reaches from Los Angeles drum and bass into downtempo and ambient production. He is one of the people behind Fourth Level Audio, the West Coast collective and label run with Basq and Qlyph. The collective began in 2003, with a musical outlook rooted in hip-hop, soul, funk, and live instrumentation.
For Verdant, part of his debut release for United By Bass Recordings in 2026, he described starting with a clear liquid D&B concept and building around chopped brass and piano. Paired with Something Special, it followed years of work within the soulful and atmospheric end of the genre. His collaborations include Takin’ Ya Back with Scott Allen, included alongside his solo Those Memories on Soul Deep’s 2025 Los Angeles wildfire fundraiser.
The quieter side of his output has its own purpose. On Fourth Level Audio’s Midnite Mood EP, released in 2024, he made an entirely ambient set of four pieces over two days after a stressful working week. Sharing those recordings followed encouragement from friends.
