Behind the music

About Matiflow.

Matiflow’s early recordings were made by New Zealand producers Cody Heu and Liam O’Brien while based in Perth, Western Australia, with the Evil Women EP and Existence CD forming part of that first phase.

O'Brien's media production blog documented the partnership in 2011 and described Evil Women as deep, rolling, tech-influenced drum and bass that finished with a move into dubstep. By November 2012, the pair had also uploaded Flow Through to triple j Unearthed, where their artist profile identified both members and their New Zealand origins.

The later catalogue includes a run of Serotone Recordings releases: Gutter Trash // Spit, Lagos//Maul, Lesson One, and the Broken Filter LP. The album includes Smoko, which subsequently received a remix by June Miller.
