Behind the music
About Mindmapper.
Mindmapper is the drum and bass project of Dutch producer Rogier Habraken. Before cutting and arranging electronic music, he worked with bands, played piano, double bass, and electric guitar, and built his own studio. Recording those bands became a route into sampling and composition, supported by training in audio design.
His production work has often involved other musicians. With Silvahfonk, he developed a run of collaborations including Flash Forward, released by Demand Records in 2012. The same single paired it with Clear Distinction, made with Fre4knc. Silvahfonk’s account of their work dates the partnership to 2007 and describes its early direction as deep, musical, and rolling drum and bass.
That collaboration continued into Vicinity EP, released on Flexout Audio in 2020, with tracks including Fascinating Science and the title cut. Habraken has also worked in sound design and mixing for Dutch broadcasting, with involvement in Break-Fast Audio and the Amsterdam drum and bass selection for 22tracks.
