Behind the music

About Mollie Collins.

Mollie Collins is a British drum and bass DJ and producer whose writing often begins at the piano. Having built her name behind the decks, she developed that musical side alongside her KISS FM show and Right Good Records, making records that move between liquid, dancefloor, and darker rollers.

Her debut album, Musicality, arrived in 2020. It brought together twelve tracks with vocalists including Emily Makis, Leah Guest, and Y-Zer, as well as collaborations with Kleu, Gino, and Banzai. Rather than settling on one subgenre, she wanted the album to reflect the range she had always played as a DJ.

Learning piano helped her find a way into that writing. Chords could suggest the mood of a track before the drums and bass were added: Love on the Line became a darker roller, while Try More explored liquid. Vocals often arrived while the production was still rough, leaving room to rebuild it around the singer.

The album also includes a family connection: her niece Ava recorded its spoken introduction from words written by Leah Guest. A second album, Another Day In The Office, followed in 2025, with Subten, Harry Shotta, and Champion DI among its collaborators. Its ten tracks took her writing into another range of club sounds, including the jungle roller Burnin’.
