Behind the music

About Mukiyare.

Mukiyare is Guillermo Fernández, a Mexico City drum and bass DJ and producer whose involvement in the country's scene dates to 2001. His recordings have appeared on Fokuz, Soul Deep, Celsius, and Deeper Vision, while his own Vacuo Recordings gives him a direct outlet for both his music and other artists.

In a 2025 interview with All Crews, he explained that Vacuo grew from wanting control over his releases and a space for the 1990s jungle sound in Mexico. That purpose sits alongside the liquid side of his production. Soul Flex Digital's CDMX / FFF paired a track built around an updated jungle break with a rolling counterpart, while his own DJ mixes also explore liquid funk and jungle.

His collaboration with French producer Joakuim, Highway Groove, appeared on Fokuz's Source Of Life in 2015. A later Deeper Vision project saw him remix Macka B and Ted Ganung's Stop It, Idiot Ting. Vacuo's catalogue includes Nostalgia, Transiciones, and Pensando en Marzo / Antisocial Crónico, alongside another Joakuim collaboration, Noches de Yambak.
