Behind the music
About Nausika.
Nausika is the production partnership of Aron and Ryan, who met at university and began making drum and bass together. In a January 2015 interview with Bite the Belt, Aron described a collaboration that had developed quickly: after roughly a year working together, they were releasing music through Teebee’s Subtitles Music.
The name came from a Greek princess Aron remembered reading about at school. Their attraction to drum and bass was more physical and technical: the energy of a dark roller, the possibilities within a 170 BPM rhythm, and the scope for detailed production. Rather than delivering their early Pressure / Hidden Traits release all at once, they sent tracks to TeeBee gradually until the selection worked together.
That Subtitles relationship continued with the four-track Torture EP in 2017. Their catalogue also includes Dominion / Echoes and later VIP versions of Dominion and Hidden Traits. In 2020, Nausika joined Overview Music with the Laska EP. In Your Eyes was offered as a free download ahead of the four-track release.
