Behind the music

About NC-17.

NC-17 is Peter Aldanmaz, a Toronto-based drum and bass producer with a background in cinema. Film is a continuing reference point in his work: his influences include composers John Carpenter and Ennio Morricone, alongside directors such as Martin Scorsese and Stanley Kubrick.

His long-form projects for Dispatch Recordings include the Most Violent Year trilogy and Enter The Violence. Alongside those albums, he developed a sequence of Metalheadz EPs, Gravity Falls, Winter Sleep, and State of Grace, bringing his interest in film atmosphere into another part of his catalogue.

The 2026 album No One Lives Forever continued that relationship with Dispatch. The label described a more stripped-back approach, concentrating on low-end movement and percussion. Collaborators include Myth, Wreckless, Leaf, Philth, and Dub Head. DnBUK premiered his collaboration with Wreckless, More Human Than Human, in June ahead of the album.
