Payback is a drum and bass producer from Tamworth whose releases have appeared regularly on Soul Deep Recordings and Smooth N Groove.
Interconnected brought him back to Soul Deep with a four-track EP that includes Shine, Never Know, and a reworking of Loose Cannon. Soul Deep describes a combination of rolling basslines, broken rhythms, and pared-down arrangements.
On Smooth N Groove, Realist was his third album for the label, following the Enjoy The Ride EP on Soul Deep. Deal With Sound then became his fourth Smooth N Groove album in 2023. Across 12 tracks, the label identified a continuing emphasis on restraint and detail, with titles including Changes, Inevitable, Massive & Crew, and Total Vibe.
