Closer to the artist.

New Zealand duo Pirapus combine George Murray and Ben Hollamby’s musical backgrounds with future drum and bass and their F U T U R E audiovisual show.

Behind the music

About Pirapus.

Pirapus is the New Zealand drum and bass duo of George Murray and Ben “Tex” Hollamby. The pair met while studying in Christchurch, making music together before concentrating on drum and bass. Murray’s piano background and Hollamby’s guitar playing brought different musical starting points to the partnership.

Their records connect that instrumental grounding with a club-focused electronic approach. Ultrasound, made with Arcando, appeared on Monstercat, while further collaborations include work with Andromedik and SOTA. The duo describe their direction as future drum and bass, bringing their own visual aesthetic into the music as well as their performances.

That relationship became the basis of F U T U R E, an audiovisual show built around Pirapus’s music and visuals. Introducing the project to UKF, they described a complete show with lasers, fire, and smoke, rather than simply a DJ set. Their release catalogue also includes ENERGY (I Feel), RENEGADE (Every Day), and their remix of 1991’s Full Send.
