About Pythius.
Pythius is a Dutch drum and bass producer and DJ from Utrecht whose music draws on the force of metal as well as electronic production. His connection with Blackout Music NL began on the dancefloor: attending its Utrecht parties, including a 2005 show with Pendulum, introduced him to the music he would later release himself.
His Abandon EP arrived in November 2014. Its five tracks included Desert Sand, a collaboration with Black Sun Empire. He was studying music production while making the record, and worked on it for around a year. The title track nearly went unfinished before encouragement from Black Sun Empire persuaded him to keep developing it.
The relationship continued through his debut album, Descend, released in 2018. He had grown up within the local community around Blackout’s nights. That history connects his records with Utrecht’s drum and bass culture as well as the heavier music that informs his production.
Alongside making records and playing shows, Pythius shares production material through his own Patreon. His description of the channel places its focus on the harder side of drum and bass.
