Behind the music

About QZB.

QZB is the German-Swiss partnership of Thomas and Ben, whose drum and bass developed alongside the parties they promoted in Basel. Originally known as QBIG & Zenith B, they shortened the name in 2017, bringing the music and its visual identity closer together.

Their early QZB work included a Systems EP for Critical Music. In Basel, their Random nights at Sommercasino gave them a place to bring visiting artists into the local scene, while their studio sat below the same venue. Making tracks and hearing music with a crowd were closely connected parts of the project.

That relationship became particularly clear on their debut album, Future Forever, released in 2023. They had written an earlier version during lockdown, then started again when clubs reopened. The finished record brought personal ideas back into contact with the energy of a rave, with vocalists including Charli Brix, Hadley, and T-Man.

Their second album, Dreams to Dust, followed in October 2026. This time they recorded vocals together in their own studio and took a more direct hand in the visuals. Discussing it with UKF, they described moving beyond technical perfection towards a more personal record. Rollers and minimal drum and bass remain part of their vocabulary, rather than rules for every track.
