Kasra founded Critical Music in 2002 because he wanted to be more involved in the music he loved. DJing and running the label came first, giving him years of experience selecting records and working with producers before he released a substantial project of his own.
That arrived with Ski Mask in 2018. Critical described the four-track EP as rolling low-end drum and bass, while Kasra admitted that judging his own music was harder than making A&R decisions for other artists. Feedback from trusted collaborators helped him decide when the tracks were ready.
Working with InsideInfo as Circuits also gave him confidence to experiment. The partnership offered a place to develop sketches together, with each producer bringing a different perspective. It sits alongside his solo catalogue rather than replacing it.
Dream Metal followed in 2024, an eight-track project involving vocalists and production collaborators. Kasra wanted something longer than an EP and a physical record he could hold, with the artwork receiving the same care as the music. In his UKF interview, he described it as a project he had wanted to make for himself, fittingly direct for someone whose label began with much the same impulse.
